How do I get the great look of an oil-based paint without the smell and harsh chemicals?

Benjamin Moore has a product called Advance. Advance is a waterborne technology that incorporates the beauty and durability of oil in a low odor non- chemical formula that is water cleanup friendly.

If I am trying to hide imperfections of existing surfaces without the labor, what will help?

Using a low-sheen finish paint will lessen the visible imperfections dramatically without all the hassle and effort of resurfacing the desired area.

Why is my paint so thick and hard to use?

Painting in direct sun light, whether indoors or outside is never a good idea. Even in shaded areas, if your product seems to dry rapidly, try using an extender.

There are products for both oil and latex/acrylic finishes. This will help to make the product easier to use and slow the drying time of the paint.

Why does my new brush keep leaving bristles on my surface?

No matter what kind of brush, always rinse and fan the brush to remove stray bristles.

What kind of product can I use on my new fence?

Stay away from the latex paints. Latex finishes always require primer and multiple finish coats. Instead think of using Cabots transparent, semi-transparent and full-bodied stain. This will allow for low maintenance and a long life for your fence.

How do I get rid of those black scuffs on my walls and trim without having to repaint them?

Try using a nonabrasive sponge or towel such as a Magic Eraser. It works miracles on walls and trim, removing marks without harming the surface.

Why does my paint bleed behind the blue tape?

Using a caulking, and wiping it with a wet cotton rag will help prevent the bleeding on your tape lines.

What is the best way to store my paint for future use?

When storing latex paints, add a couple tablespoons of water on the top surface of the paint before resealing the can for storage. This will prevent the paint from developing a skin at the surface which contaminates the paint.

What type of paint should I use in a high moisture area such as my bathroom?

An eggshell finish will help to ensure a protected and cleanable wall and ceiling surface for areas that have high humidity such as a shower or kitchen area.

I have children and pets. Is there a product that is allergy and odor friendly?

You bet, there are several products available, however I recommend a product that is accredited with meeting government standards for these concerns.  Benjamin Moore has a terrific line of paints called NATURA. This line of paint will cover all your worries.
